Bento - Smash

Went to woolies (Woolworths) and got a little excited to see that Smash (a lunchbox brand) had been inspired by Japanese bentos and brought out a range of cute items to make western kids lunch boxes fun :)

On offer was egg & rice shaper set (also used to cut cheese and bread) and food cups. I didn't even know how much they were but I still couldn't put them in my trolley fast enough! Lol

Hair for all Occasions: #3

1. Section 10cm of hair from across the front and taper the hair to create a triangle ending at your crown.

2. Secure the triangle section with a clip and secure the rest of your hair in a low pony tail.

3. Working in sections, tease the hair on top then smooth the hair at the front over the teased parts to create a puff. Secure with bobby pins.

4. Brush the remaining hair into a ponytail and pull the hair on the sides to cover the puff and blend/cover the sides of the puff.

Hair for all Occasions: #2

1. Section off your fringe or create one by grabbing about 4cm of hair from the front. Pin out of the way.

2. Grab about a 10 x 10cm section from the crown and depending on your hair you may need the tease it a bit (if your hair isn't trained like mine!).

3. After you tease your crown twist from behind push it forward (so it creates a puff) then use bobby pins to secure it.

4. Grab enough hair on one side of your head to cover the side of the puff (create a dome look), brush it up and secure with bobby pins. Repete on the other side.

5. Grab the rest of your hair and pull it back into a ponytail. If your hair is boufy put another hair tie mid way down the ponytail to create a Barbie Ponytail (cause it looks like the original barbie silhouettes).

6. Style your fringe to the side and spray your fringe and hair with hair spray while smoothing.

Vola!

Fashion Theme: Lazy African Safari

Whipping together 30min looks...either gets you very stressed or you love the challenge - today's post was a Sunday brunch/lunch outing and I was suffering from morning blues (ie hangover...are Mums allowed to say that?!) - went out with the girls on a Saturday then got a call for food...I was there!

Wore some new paperbag shorts from Target (pleated at the waist), I have accumulated a few of these types of shorts, not sure why...maybe cause they are high waisted and eliminated the dreaded muffin top!

Rain, rain...come and save us from this heat!

Rainy season is upon us folk living near the equator so it's time to bust out the waterproof covers and durable boots so we can splash around in the puddles...while we do the school runs and run from our carpark to work!

Umbrellas don't work all that great since most if the time a monsoon is cause by a low which causes a cyclone and the insuring winds do make the umbrella irrelevant as the rain comes at you sideways and/or you end up looking like flying Mary Poppins 0_0

Cue the raincoat! Ever popular with kids and can also be stylish for adults. I wanted one with a hood and was cheap (cause that's how I shop!) - my ever favourite eBay gave me a few options but I liked the polka dot look of this one (the transparent ones where interesting too).

I was looking for gumboots/rain boots as well but I didn't like how they were always so wide in the calf so I chose normal faux leather boots with a little heel, these ones also go over you knee so less chance of rain getting in, plus if you get some wool boot toppers it will further keep you tootsies dry!

lots of handmade ones for sale)

Fashion Theme: Summer Goth

So I wanted to wear something dark, but it was quite warm (which is normally for the tropics)...creation was this ensemble. I love dark menacing clothes as much as I like sweet light clothes, so in fact I have no preferences when it come to fashion, whatever goes. I also came to the realisation that my mirror was really dirty (I have since cleaned it) after looking back at these photos, can't wait for my new smartphone tripod!

Fashion Theme: Pop Punk

I was actually inspired by the 60's when I thought of this outfit. I saw the hair trolling through google and thought that with the fringe it had a modern beehive vibe, I added a sweet ribbon tied in a bow around the bun. I am practising to get the liquid liner really thin at the moment, but you could get wild with the eyes to go more the 60's way.

Formal Wedding Guest Attire

Today I have a wedding to attend and the dress code is 'Territory Formal' (I live in the Northern Territory of Australia) which according to our Local Government website entails:

Territory Formal

Gentlemen: Dinner suit or dark trousers, long sleeve shirt, bow tie or tuxedo
Ladies: Evening wear

Should be interesting because nowadays most people just don't take into consideration things like etiquette and dress codes - especially when the dress  code is written to make it easier >_<

Since I live in a tropical location I went with a long maxi dress style - something I think can be dressed up to look chic and modern without wearing a satin ball gown (which would defiantly be too dressed up!).

The dress cost $30 and the metal belt cost $10 including postage from eBay (my favourite place to shop) it can sometimes be hit and miss but for $30 I'm willing to take that chance, in this case it was a hit...I hope!

First School Fete

Ah, all the school fete veterans out there are probably thinking "haha good luck" - I did a bit of Googling and noticed that most parents have ways of getting around being involved in some of the more tedious tasks...I'm not comfortable around kids, never have been, the last thing I want to do is be in charge of a whole gaggle of them! I plan on spending heaps there to compensate for my lack a school parent spirit - The most I have had to think about is what to wear...

Bento Fun

Oh with my obsession with all things Asian once my daughter started school I discovered the fun if Bentos :D I'm a sucker for all this kawaii (cute in Japanese) even in my old age so if I can incorporate it into my daily life I will!

I brought some fun stuff off the Internet and I can't wait till Monday so I can start to use the (hmmm it's Saturday and I'm excited about a Monday...very depressing) although I did make asneaky  sandwich and tested out my new sandwich cutters (the purple things in the photo) - I also brought some animal picks and a lucky dip bag which contained cutters, super cute sauce bottle, dip container, more picks and panda cupcake liners for frankfurts.

Morning/Night Face Routine

Face Routine

At the moment my latest beauty routine involves quite a simple face routine actually. I have used many products over the years but lately I have noticed that the simpler the ingredients (or rather more natural) the better the result. One of my girlfriends is into products that are closer to nature and don't contain too many chemicals and such, so I do get inspired by that but she may not agree with my cleansing face wash...but oh well!

Ok so I got super excited when I walked into my local Priceline store and discovered that their new product was something that was close to my current obsession - it was Ponds, Flawless White range. I have been using the facial foam every night in the shower using a soft face brush.

(Now just to clear something up, just like fair skin people like to get tanned skinned, dark skinned people like to get lighter skin (mostly in Asian countries where white skinned is viewed as beautiful) - I have olive skin with a yellow undertone but since finishing high school and staying indoors I have gone much lighter (not as transparent as some of my girlfriends though lol) - what my main goal is is to have even skin tone which would be easy if I just got a slight tan! but I like that image of snow white skin.)

I get pimples all the time witch is super annoying, expectantly when you have no freckles to hid them a bit...to keep them at bay I use Eureka Eucalyptus Oil - you have to dilute it with water so at the moment I use Swisspers Makeup Pads and add equal oil and water then wipe over your face.

In the morning I use Dr Dickerson's Witch hazel as a toner, calms the pores, cleans the face and prepares the skin for make up, I just use another pad and wipe over the face.

Stylebook

Ok I tried using Polyvore but I have come to realise that it is almost impossible to add your own clothes...(unless you can find it online, which does work with old or vintage stuff) but I have investigated and discovered a app/website called Stylebook - remember the movie Clueless and Cher's awesome digitalised closet...it can now be achieved!

So much fun ahead!

Polyvore App!

Ok I just found out that Polyvore has a rather reliable app that I can use - since I don't have a PC I stopped using Polyvore cause I couldn't do it from their website on my phone - but now I can create obsessive creations, and I should try and use my own clothes by taking photos using white backdrop and I should invest in a torso to get the shape - I'm excited to start Polyvore-ing again!

Flawless Asian Face

I have been reading a lot of manga these last couple of months and have become increasing interested in the Asian concept of beauty (white flawless skin, small lips, big eyes...) - I'm Euroasian (Asian descendent Mother and White Father in my case) so I am trying to emphasise all the 'good' aspects of my gene pool >_< - my eyes are almond shaped with double lid eyes (so I have learned) but I have olive green eyes so I don't look particularly Asian...especially compared with my Asian descendent Husband and daughter!

So comes the adventure...or my obsession!

(By the way that's a no makeup photo of me as I write this entry and a made up me from a night out)

Well long time no post...

Since my last post I got rid of my annoying old phone and upgraded to something more useful (since I use my phone to blog) - without advertising what phone I have I have become quite obsessed with it...I feel it's time to redirect the focus of by blog to one with no focus at all, bit like me! I have many passions and obsessions which change more often then my underwear (haha here's presuming I change them often ^_^) - so I feel this should be a place where I talk about my many interests and they normally come and go so I guess they turn into little obsessions (such as my preference for all things Asian...) which I feel need to be shared so all may feel my excitement lol!

Happy New Year! 2013

Oh it is the start of a new year and what better way to revamp your life then with a home DIY makeover!

Ever room in my house is getting the treatment with each room getting it's own theme or feel. I'll do each room as I find things I am interested in and that fit the criteria, most rooms already have a theme I have in mind so I have been busy pinning things to my Pinterest on my 'Inspiration Boards'.

First up...'The Master Bedroom'

Our master is the most 'oversized' room out of the whole house meaning we have more room then furniture to fill it :p so it can take a dramatic and bold colour theme without feeling cluttered or claustrophobic. I've chosen one of my favourite architecture/design styles, Art Deco. With it's sharp geometric lines and bold, rich luxuries fabrics, colours and textures I think its the perfect style to complement a couples bedroom and add a bit of seduction and mystery...

{Now remember unless I specifically buy something as a collectors piece everything will be done on the cheap and will just give the style and/or theme I want to put across.}

I've chosen black and gold as my base colours {all the links can be found on my Pinterest page}:

DIY Time! New Years Eve Chain Heels

Add a bit of dominatrix to your persona this New Years Eve with a bit of shoe bondage!

Step 1: Mark a spot on the shoe where you want the chains to start on both sides
Step 2: Cut two (2) lengths of the craft chain and diamante chain in varying/ascending sizes (eg 10, 11, 12 and 14cm) so they hang as desired.
Step 3: Apply the super glue to the mark where the chains will meet and apply the chains one at a time, one side to the other.
Step 4: Put another dab of super glue on the top of where the chains meet on both sides and apply a stud.

Presto!

Now you are ready to be fierce on the dance floor!

A really cool idea from P.S. I Made This... great for busty girls plus I think it adds a lot of class. Would work well as a feative season dress.
